Probational Overseer Joseph Gayin

Prob. Ovr. Joseph Gayin was born in Accra to Christian parents of the Methodist faith. His life was influenced by the faith-based schools he attended at the primary and secondary levels where the strict leadership and ideals of the schools ensured that students were modelled to reflect strict self and imposed discipline, which were coded in regulations of the institutions. Selflessness, respect for the dignity of man and devotion to God were some of the key values built into students to shape their lives to serve society and God. His life was also greatly influenced and inspired by his maternal grandmother who served as a deaconess of the Church of Pentecost for many years and ensured that he was baptized into the church and stayed active and dedicated.  Involvement in church activities began during his undergraduate studies at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. As a member of Pentecost Students and Associates (PENSA), he was challenged by the ideals of the group and began to take up responsibilities and active roles in the choir (King’s praise) as well as Bible study. His leadership role was recognized and given the opportunity to serve as secretary of the group during his final year of study.  He joined the Pentecost International Worship Center (PIWC) at Kokomlemle, Accra where he ministered in music (Royal Vessels) and served in the then Pentecost Youth and Evangelistic Ministry (PENTYEM) and Witness Movement (now Evangelism ministry) Leadership. His gift of leadership was noticed and has since been mentored by many Elders and Pastors of the church. He first served as a Deacon and later as an Elder of the church. After a short stay with the PIWC at midway, he worshipped with the Oakville District after his graduate study in food science at the University of Guelph. He was given the opportunity to serve as Presiding Elder at Oakville in August 2018 till June 2022. He currently serves as a member of the Pentecost School Board and stationed at Sudbury. In his secular work, Pro. Ovr Joseph Gayin worked as a Research Scientist with the Food Research Institute of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Ghana and with Maple Leaf Foods as Food Safety and Quality Assurance Professional.
