The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and his wife, Mary made their maiden official visit to the Church in Canada from October 14 to 21, 2019.
Apostle Nyamekye and Mama Mary were welcomed on arrival by the Pastorate in Toronto and its environs led by Apostle Dr. Emmanuel Owusu (National Head, COP Canada and Executive Council Member), Apostle Daniel Nii Lomotey Engmann (North York Area Head), and Apostle Dr. Alex Agyei-Gyamera (Scarborough Area Head).
Apostle Nyamekye fellowshipped with members of the Church in Calgary (Western Canada Area), Ottawa (Scarborough Area), and Toronto (North York Area). He took time to explain Vision 2023 to them and urged the officers and brethren alike to champion the vision for its successful implementation.
Addressing officers of the Church in Toronto, Apostle Nyamekye stated that the “overall goal of Vision 2023 is to see a church where members go to possess their nations by transforming every worldview, thought and behaviour with values, principles and lifestyles of the Kingdom of God and thereby turning many people to Christ.”
“We foresee a refreshed church that equips and releases its members into ministry as agents of transformation wherever they may be,” he added.
He, therefore, advised them to go back to righteousness, prayer, fasting, the word of God, teachings that would equip the saints to be agents of transformation, sacrificial service, and emphasis on the Holy Spirit.
According to him, Delilah asked Sampson what the secret of his strength was because his stature was ordinary but he did supernatural things (Judges 16:5-6). He said that Delilah reasoned that Sampson had a secret.
“We are ordinary human beings but our secret is the power of the Holy Spirit. A drunk person gets a different perspective about things and is able to do things he or she would not do under normal circumstances. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we get the ability to do things we could not do before (Ephesians 5:18),” he stated.
The Chairman also met with pastors and their wives in the nation and taught them that the call to ministry is a call to sacrifice. “The minister is a gift to the church. We have been chosen by God to preach the gospel. Like Paul, the minister is sent to open the eyes of the people from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God so they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Christ.
“The sacrifice involves loss (Philippians 3:4; Deuteronomy 33:8-11) but once we sacrifice ourselves and wholeheartedly devote ourselves to the work of the Lord, the Lord will take care of us,” he said.
Apostle Nyamekye called on Ministers to know who God is and have faith in Him to supply their needs. (Job 6:24; Exodus 18:14-24; 1 Corinthians 9:16-17; Colossians 4:13, Acts 26:14-18).
The week’s visit ended with the dedication of the state-of-the-art 3-11 Arrow Road edifice in Toronto on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
