OBJECTIVE: Quiet Time or devotional Bible Study and prayer is purposed to establish a consistent and effective daily Bible Study and prayer life that will lead to Christian Maturity.
INTRODUCTION: There are two main kinds of devotions that Christians are involved in:
a) Personal Devotion or Quiet Time
b) Group or United Prayer Time which involves two or more people
1. WHAT IS QUIET TIME?
A time alone with God daily, talking with Him, listening to Him and meditating (i.e. thinking over) upon His Word.
2. WHY HAVE A QUIET TIME? (Isaiah 40:31)
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as Eagles, they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
(a) It is essential for daily strength to live a victory Christian life
(b) It is essential for your spiritual growth – 1 Peter 2:2
(c) It is essential for your spiritual instruction – 2 Timothy 3:16
(d) It is essential for your spiritual direction – Psalms 119:105
(e) It is essential for your spiritual warfare – Ephesians 6:17

Old Testament FACTS: Uzziah sought God and prospered – 2 Chronicles 26:4-5

3. HOW DO I HAVE A QUIET TIME?
(a) Set aside a definite time
(b) Faithfully keep it to God
(c) Having a good reading Bible, a Quiet Time Notebook, a Dictionary
(if possible) and a prayer list
(d) Quiet time includes
(i) Personal Worship
(ii) Prayer
(iii) Bible
(iv) Study Meditation

4. WHERE AND WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY QUIET TIME?
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, He went into a solitary place to pray(Mark 1:35), Psalms 5:3; 145:2 and 113:1-3 (emphasis verse 3), Psalms 57:8, Proverbs 8:17.
