Text: 1 Corinthians 3:9-15; 1 Peter 2:4-6; Isaiah 28:16
Sinners live to please themselves and other people. On the other hand, believers in Christ Jesus desire to please the Lord Jesus Christ in every area of their life.
As Christians, we are called into holiness of life every day. We should not take pleasure in sin. Rather, we should aspire to practical holy living. Our living for Christ requires shunning worldliness, loving other people and considering others better than ourselves.
Like Christ Jesus, believers should pray without ceasing. Through prayer we have fellowship with God and receive comfort, strength and hope. Also we have a victory in our daily warfare through prayer. The day that begins with prayer is a day that begins with God.
Reading and meditating on the word of God is an important part of living for Christ. Furthermore, we must obey the teachings of Christ regardless of the cost. The believer never strikes, retaliates or revolts. We are to respect and obey authority – religious, civil or parental. The only exception is when such obedience will mean disobedience to God.
Also, we must show generosity and kindness towards the poor and the needy. We must be faithful and dedicated in our service to the Lord. Our integrity and honesty must not be in doubt. Finally, we must fruitfully engage in the Master’s business of evangelism.
