For many people, being right with God means living a morally upright life. Among other things, they would try to lead an honest life, share with people in need or avoid hurting others. Did you ever think that good works would save you? Unfortunately, good works in themselves do not make us right with God.

The Word of God teaches that eternal life is a gift from God, and it is through Jesus Christ – our Lord. Ephesians 2:8,9 says:

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.

Also, Romans 6:23 declares:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

To be saved then, you need to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 10:9 says:

If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ reconciles you with God and saves you from eternal death. You do not work for salvation; you only receive it. So why wait?
